Apple Cider Vinegar has many benefits for dogs. Here is why you may want to try it and the ways it can help.
"Many vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) improve your dog's health," says Dr. Alicia McWatters, Ph.D. and Certified Nutritional Consultant.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) provides dogs with enzymes and a host of minerals and vitamins, including potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, bioflavonoids, beta-carotene, and vitamins C, E, B1, B2, and B6. It also contains tannins from fresh apple cell walls, plus pectin (fiber) and malic acid.
How Apple Cider Vinegar Can Benefit Dogs
Apple Cider Vinegar: Home Remedy for Yeast Infections in Dogs
English Bulldog News shares, "Yeast is a huge problem in this breed. A common denominator in fighting canine candidiasis is ACV. It tackles yeast and fungus from the inside out by creating a more alkalizing environment that encourages beneficial bacteria. Adding live cultures helps combat or prevent yeast overgrowth. Signs of yeast in bulldogs include brown, red or 'off' fur colouring (especially below eyes, on chin, between paws), brown ear discharge, constant itching or paw licking, and rubbing head/ears. If you notice these, your pup may have yeast and should be examined by your vet. Upon diagnosis, ask if an ACV regimen is a good idea."
Want to Give Apple Cider Vinegar for Dogs a Try?
Be sure to use organic, unpasteurized (raw), unfiltered, naturally fermented ACV. Look for sediment called "the mother" and you'll know you've got the right stuff.
*Do NOT buy white distilled vinegar—it has none of ACV's benefits.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Dogs: Dosage
Dr. McWatters recommends 1 teaspoon for small dogs and 1 tablespoon for medium-large dogs, added to food once daily (others add to water, but some dogs dislike the taste).
Other Ways to Use ACV
Use diluted ACV as a final rinse after bathing. Dilute 1 cup ACV with 4 cups water and pour over the coat. Avoid the eyes and always dilute—undiluted ACV can sting.
Fill a container (large enough for a paw) with warm water and add a cup of ACV. Soak the paw 5 to 10 minutes.
Before you try apple cider for dogs, check with your Vet first.
